Lecturer profile

Chen Yangbo, professor and doctoral supervisor of the Department of Remote Sensing and GIS Engineering, School of Geography and Planning, Sun Yat-sen University, director of Laboratory of Water Disaster Management and Water Resources Informatization, and a talented person introduced by "Hundred Talents Program" of Sun Yat-sen University. He is also the Chairman of the International Remote Sensing Committee of the International Association for Hydrological Science, the Chairman of the International Association for Hydrological Process and Changes Modeling Working Group and the Chief Scientist of the Urban Flood Forecast and Risk Management Project of the United Nations Typhoon Committee for Asia and the Pacific. Chen Yangbo has been engaged in the teaching and research of hydrological process simulation and flood disaster monitoring and forecasting for a long time. He is a pioneer in distributed hydrological model research. He has put forward a self-named distributed hydrological model for watershed flood prediction with independent intellectual property rights, namely, the Liuxi River Model, which has been successfully applied in the flood prediction of reservoir inflow, small and medium-sized river basins, large river basins and highly urbanized river basins. The first urban waterlogging monitoring and early warning system in China has been established by him in Dongguan City, which has won the Science and Technology Progress Award of Guangdong Province, and has been popularized and applied in the Greater Bay Area cities and the Hay City of Thailand.
